Leod Fitz has been a writer for nearly as long has he has been a reader. Absurdly fascinated by the power of the written word, he realized at a young age that the only career which held any interest for him was that of an author. When he isn’t pouring his blood and sweat onto the page, he’s selling his blood to plasma clinics, and his sweat to a variety of employers. He’s worked as an animal caretaker, a shelf stocker, a farmhand and warehouse employee, but he’s always been a writer at heart.

Meet Walter, the ghoul next door. He could be the most boring man alive…except for one small detail: Walter isn't human. Though he was raised by humans, Walter is, in fact, a ghoul, a mystical flesh-eating monster of myth. And now, for some reason, some one – or some thing is trying to kill him. ""If you read one book this year, make it Awfully Appetizing by Leod D. Fitz. I don’t usually praise books as ‘amazing’ but this was probably one of the best books I have ever read.
The writing style is delectably witty, right down to the title. I must have looked ridiculous reading with a perpetual grin on my face, periodically bursting out in chuckles, but I don’t care. A book that can’t make me smile is a book not worth my time. This one was worth every line. The characters were fantastic. It took everything I love about the supernatural world, put it in a blender, added some rotten sheep brains and voilà! You get Walter, the leading man and one of the most interesting characters of all time. He is awesome, as is his family. Seriously, once you go ghoul you don’t go back. Vampires-shmanpires. The plot moved smoothly and kept me in until the last page. It was equally distributed between action, story, and fun, which made it that much better. It was unpredictable but not without foreshadow so you still get surprised but not feel like the twists came out of nowhere. The only downside of the book was that the second one isn’t out yet. I’m glad to see it’s a series and I will definitely be picking up the next one as soon as it’s available. Basically what I’m saying is, read it. You can thank me later."

HHAC Day 14: Dave Lund

Dave Lund lives in central Texas and is a former Texas "motor-cop," having worked for nearly a decade in full time law enforcement as a Texas Peace Officer. Prior to being a Peace Officer, Dave was a full time skydiving instructor and actively competed in Canopy Piloting (aka swooping), completing over 3,000 skydives, which included six reserve rides after the main parachute malfunctioned, one reserve malfunction and one plane crash. Retired from active law enforcement, Dave now focuses on writing as well as working as a professional photographer. Dave is no longer an active skydiver. His current hobbies include competing in powerlifting, camping, motorcycles, and his beloved custom 1973 VW Superbeetle that he built.

The characters in the Winchester Undead series are a complete work of fiction, although some of them are personality composites of people whom Dave knows in the real world, but no characters are based solely on a single individual. They are a complete work of fiction and do not represent any actual people, living or dead. Yes, that includes Bexar!

Synopsis:

HHAC Day 8: Dallas Mullican

After spending twenty years as the lead singer of a progressive metal band, Dallas Mullican turned his creative impulses toward writing. Raised on King, Barker, and McCammon, he moved on to Poe and Lovecraft, enamored with the macabre. During his time at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he received degrees in English and Philosophy, Dallas developed a love for the Existentialists, Shakespeare, Faulkner, and many more great authors and thinkers. Incorporating this wide array of influences, he entices the reader to fear the bump in the night, think about the nature of reality, and question the motives of their fellow humans.

A pariah of the Deep South, Dallas doesn't understand NASCAR, hates Southern rock and country music, and believes the great outdoors consists of walking to the mailbox and back. He remains a metalhead at heart, and can be easily recognized by his bald head and Iron Maiden t-shirt.

Synopsis: Gabriel isn’t murdering anyone―he’s saving them.
