Countdown to Halloween: Dan Dillard

Day 27 dawns frosty and clear with a wee bit of a chill in the air. Only 3 days left before the countdown is but the bad memory of an adolescent on an extreme sugar rush from bags of candy doled out on All Hallows Eve. Who is that in the corner, his arms covering his head, I guess he knows what happens to the expired guests in these parts. Why it's none other than Dan Dillard and his latest release Giving up the Ghost, which is currently free.




Introducing Gerry Sheffield. He drinks, uses drugs, and treats women like trash. All these things can't fill up the gaping hole where his soul should be. His parents are elderly, and Bill and Margo Sheffield have had enough of their son's irresponsible and sometimes illegal crap. They have decided that the only way to help Gerry...is to haunt him.

This is a novel of paranormal revenge with just enough comedy to dull its harsh, black edge. Gerry is one nasty character with no shame. Sometimes tough love isn't enough, but as ghosts, maybe Bill and Margo can scare him straight, or worse.

Dan was born in Connecticut and has lived all over the US. A former US Navy sailor, he now lives in the Midwest and loves his family, movies, animals and creating evil somethings for the annual Halloween party. He owes his imagination to his two beautiful children, and the guts to put his writing out there to a loving, beautiful...and very patient wife.
He is a member of Pen of the Damned and the Horror Writer's Association, and he has written for The Carnival 13 and William Castle's 'Scare it Forward'. His short stories have been published in anthologies and magazines--some you may have even heard of.
He is the author responsible for "Demons and Other Inconveniences", "What Tangled Webs", "The Unauthorized Autobiography of Ethan Jacobs", "Lunacy", "How to Eat a Human Being" and now "Giving Up the Ghost". Currently, he's busy with a new collection, "Down the Psycho Path" and another novel, "The Toothless Dead" as well as a handful of screenplays. He writes with an easy-going, character-based, small-town style and sprinkles in some dark humor to even out the scary bits.
